Here at JBC, we are all daydreaming of warmer days! In honor of the first day of spring starting in just 56 days (🎉), we thought it was perfect timing to highlight a colorful section created a few years ago!
We hope this brings you warmth as we pass through these last few winter days ahead!

It has already been a great start to 2025 here at JBC!
We were thankful for the Holidays and time we had to get together with our friends and family, but are excited to continue designing meaningful landscapes! Cheers to the new year! 🎉
We have had a great and productive year here at JBC! We are excited to see what year 2025 brings and look forward to the continued collaboration with many of you.
Our offices will be closed starting at noon tomorrow, December 24th and we will be back to business as normal on January 2nd, 2024!
We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you in 2025!
Team JBC spent last Wednesday getting out of the office and spending the day to explore together and enjoy a potluck before the Holiday season begins! It was a great day to get away and grow together as a team outside of work! 🍂🌾

Here's a sketch that Joe did of an old project of ours, World War 2 Memorial in Des Moines! We love to see his take on this memorial that has continued to be such a gorgeous spot in town.

Here are a few views of a conceptual design of a vibrant set of basketball and tennis courts. This design is a part of a bigger park concept that we continue to develop down in Waco, Texas! Excited to see how this design will continue to develop in the upcoming months!

At the beginning of October, Dave was able to attend American Society of Landscape Architect's annual conference in Washington D.C. He had a great time attending many events, listening to panels, going to socials, networking, and learning about new equipment and products on the expo floor! He came back to JBC refreshed and excited to share his new found knowledge from the conference. We are already looking forward to next year's conference in New Orleans!

Recently, we visited the site of Longwood Gardens to see the continued construction of "Longwood Reimagined"! Here are a few images of specific areas that JBC had the opportunity to partner with @reedhilderbrand on soils and irrigation portion of the design!

We love to see how each layer of design starts to come together! In this picture, you will see the first concept of an irrigation design on top of a soils and planting plan for the proposed site.

Over the past year, JBC has had the honor to work closely with Marion, IA on a Reforestation Project for the town.
In August of 2020, Marion suffered significant loss from a record breaking storm that ripped through the Midwest. In response to this destruction, the City of Marion has
began efforts of reforestation.
JBC was tasked with providing inventory of the loss and to provide solutions towards Marion's specific goals of bringing nature back. The document created for the City of Marion provides analyses, cost estimates and graphics conveying what the community could look like when implementing the ten year plan.
This project has been very rewarding for us to be apart of. We are very excited for the future of Marion, and look forward to getting to witness first hand the impact that
the Reforestation Plan will make!
To learn more about this project, visit the link in our bio which will take you to our most recent blog post, 'Miracle in Marion'!
The plants and foliage are beginning to show signs of Fall here in Kansas City! We are excited for what the new season has in store! 🍂

Last night JBC facilitated a successful forum and presentation for the City of Marion’s Reforestation Plan. The planning effort was initiated by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department and Forestry Division in response to the rare derecho storm event that occurred in August of 2020. The plan lays out recommendations and strategies for the reforestation planting efforts, phasing, staffing/volunteer resources, funding mechanisms, and modifications to policies and ordinances.
The City will be taking the plan and seeking City Council adoption next Thursday.
Stay tuned for more highlights regarding this unique project that we have had the honor of being apart of!

Here is an image of a schematic design layout for an updated track and field sports complex. The visual helped us to get out of our 2 dimensional thought process and really begin to see how the space could come to life!

Here's a visual that we created to help depict the schematic design process of athletic court field placement within an urban setting. For this specific render, multiple software programs were used including sketchup, lumion and photoshop!

The importance of the site analysis stage of a new project is so important. During this phase you can take inventory of existing features, while also beginning to imagine/analyze what could be within the initial design phase!
We love this old site analysis diagram that is really diving into both analysis and inventory of the site, and clearly indicating future ideas! 🤩
